Ambassadors from 14 Countries Learned about Slovak Nuclear Know-how at VUJE
Slovakia has long-standing expertise in nuclear energy that extends beyond its borders. This was also confirmed by the visit of ambassadors from 14 countries, who learned about VUJE’s solutions in nuclear energy, energy security and technological innovation.
The visit was part of a jubilee event held within the Innovation Day series, one of the important economic diplomacy projects of the Slovak Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs. The aim of Innovation Days is to present Slovak companies with strong technological and international potential to foreign partners and to support their links with international markets and partners.
Under the auspices of Rastislav Chovanec, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, ambassadors from 14 foreign missions accredited in Slovakia met at the event, including representatives of China, Japan, India, Canada, Israel, Türkiye and Ireland.
During the visit to VUJE, attended by Matej Korec, Director General and Member of the Board of Directors, the discussion focused primarily on the importance of nuclear energy for Slovakia, its role in energy security and self-sufficiency, and the professional capacities that Slovakia has been developing in this field over the long term.
“Nuclear energy is extremely important for Slovakia. It plays a key role in ensuring stable and reliable electricity supplies, thereby making a fundamental contribution to our energy security and self-sufficiency,” said Rastislav Chovanec, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, on this occasion.
Nuclear energy accounts for more than 60 percent of electricity generation in Slovakia, placing the country among the leaders in the European Union. The State Secretary also highlighted the international significance of Slovak companies operating in the nuclear sector and energy infrastructure.
“The visit to VUJE once again confirmed that Slovakia belongs among the technological leaders,” added Rastislav Chovanec.
Our company has long focused on safe and innovative solutions in energy generation, nuclear safety and support for the operation of energy facilities both in Slovakia and abroad.
The presentation to foreign diplomats also included the international technological dimension of VUJE’s activities.
In addition to a number of major domestic and international projects, VUJE is also part of a consortium of partners from Slovakia, Germany and Spain working on the development and construction of the Slovak satellite STEPHANIK, financed from the Recovery and Resilience Plan of the Slovak Republic.
The project aims to support the development of Slovakia’s domestic space ecosystem, technological innovation and the diversification of the Slovak economy.
“We see the visit of the ambassadors as a confirmation that Slovak nuclear energy and technological know-how have strong international relevance. VUJE has long been involved in projects related to safety, reliability and the technical development of energy. At the same time, we are showing that Slovak expertise can also extend into new technological fields, including the space industry,” said Matej Korec, Director General and Member of the Board of Directors of VUJE, a. s.
The jubilee 40th Innovation Day confirmed the importance of economic diplomacy in presenting Slovakia as a country with strong professional, technological and innovation potential. For our company, it was also an opportunity to show that Slovak nuclear know-how is part of solutions with relevance beyond the country’s borders.
