“Future Is Now”, was the theme of the business forum opened by the President of the Slovak Republic Zuzana Čaputová and His Majesty King William Alexander of the Netherlands on March 8, 2023. Its purpose was to find specific tools for harmonizing environmental protection with maintaining the competitiveness of the economy, but also the possibility of cooperation between Slovakia and the Netherlands in the field of increasing the nuclear safety of Ukrainian power plants and the transformation of Ukrainian energy legislation to European standards. Our Director for Development and International Operations of VUJE, a. s., Andrej Žiarovský was a member of the panel discussion dedicated to the restoration of Ukraine.

"I emphasized the fact that the primary task in the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine must be the reconstruction of the Ukrainian transmission and distribution electrical grid damaged by air and missile attacks," Andrej Žiarovský presented future peacetime steps in the debate.

Almost all of more than 140  overhead substations have become targets of attacks, and most of them are currently working only in a provisional mode, and that is only down to the enormous efforts of Ukrainian energy engineers and technicians.

"To the same extent, a significant part of the more than 23,000 kilometers of High and Extra-High  voltage transmission lines is damaged, which will have to be reconstructed in the future," confirmed A. Žiarovský (right) in the business forum debate at the highest Slovak-Dutch level.

The event was attended by more than 230 guests, including almost 150 companies. The Dutch delegation included representatives of companies bringing innovations in the field of circular economy, waste processing, recycling procedures in construction, land remediation and healthcare.

"It was one of the historically largest business forums dedicated to the topic of green transition, circular economy, waste management and healthcare in Slovakia," reads the official information channel of the Slovak President. "I am very pleased that an event of such a scale brings real results in the form of new cooperation agreements, new contracts and partnerships or a credit line for innovative projects in Slovakia," the public source quotes Zuzana Čaputová.
