Nuclear power, which emits no greenhouse gases during operation, can make a significant contribution to achieving net zero emissions by 2050, results from the conclusions of the conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Washington. 800 participants took part in it including ministers, senior officials, policy makers and experts from 69 countries and nine international organizations includes our team VUJE, a. s., represented by Branislav Hatala, Director of the Nuclear Safety, Research and Development Division and Andrej Žiarovský, Director of Development and International projects.

„The refreshing starting point of a series of lectures, panels and personal meetings was that the renaissance of nuclear energy is a reality and is taking specific lines,“ Andrej Žiarovský evaluated.

32 countries operate nuclear power, which provides some 10 per cent of the world’s electricity but accounts for 25 per cent of its clean electricity. Another 30 countries or so are embarking on or considering the introduction of nuclear power, with support from the IAEA.
